Adele grote winnaar bij de Grammy's

Meerdere winnaars

Adele was niet de enige winnaar met meerdere prijzen. Ook de Foo Fighters mochten drie keer het podium opklimmen. Kanye West, die in totaal 7 nominaties op zijn naam had staan mocht uiteindelijk 4 keer de prijs in ontvangst nemen. Gelukkig had West dit jaar wel zijn verstand meegenomen en gedroeg hij zich netjes. In 2006 kwam de Amerikaanse rapper zeer negatief in het nieuws nadat hij live tijdens de show het podium op klom en zijn ongenoegen uitte dat hij niet had gewonnen. In 2009 deed hij dat nog eens dunnetjes over door Taylor Swift haar bedankwoord te verstoren en te vermelden dat niet zij, maar Beyonce de prijs had moeten winnen.

Whitney Houston

Vanzelfsprekend stond een groot gedeelte van de avond in het teken van de dood van Whitney Houston. Gastheer LL Cool J begon de avond met een gebed voor de zangeres. Hierop volgde een opname van haar hit I Will Always Love You. Later op de avond betuigden zangeressen Alicia Keys en Bonnie Raitt hun respect voor Houston. De organisatoren van de Grammy’s kregen het op de valreep nog voor elkaar zangeres Jennifer Hudson te strikken voor een eerbetoon.

In totaal zijn er 78 (vorig jaar nog 109) gouden grammafoonbeeldjes uitgedeeld. We gaan ze niet allemaal voor je opsommen. Wel hebben we de belangrijkste op een rijtje gezet.
